Withdraw your earnings
Withdraw your royalty balance from HILLS Music to your bank in USD: what you need first, how to request it, each status, and what to do if it fails.
Updated
This page is for accounts that HILLS Music pays directly: partners, and artists and labels signed directly by HILLS. If you’re an artist or label under a partner, your partner pays you, and you see what you’ve received under Payouts received.
Before your first withdrawal
You can withdraw once all of these are true:
- Your bank account is approved. Add it under Settings → Payouts (partners can also use Payouts → Bank account). Our team checks new bank details within 3 business days. See Splits and payouts for the details to enter.
- You’ve set up an authenticator app or a passkey (artists and labels signed directly). HILLS Music asks for one before your bank account changes or money is withdrawn. Add it under Settings → Account. See Passkeys and two-factor.
- Your balance has reached the minimum in your agreement. Until then, the Available card says from when you can withdraw.
- No other withdrawal is in progress. Only one can be open at a time.
Your balance
The page shows four figures:
| Card | What it is |
|---|---|
| Available | What you can withdraw now: your committed statements’ royalties and any adjustments, less payouts made or under way. |
| In progress | The withdrawal on its way, with its status. |
| Paid out | Everything paid to you so far. |
| Earned | Your net revenue over all reported months, plus any adjustments. |
Only committed statements count. Revenue usually reaches a statement two to three months after the stream: see When stores pay.
Request a withdrawal
- Open Royalties → Transactions (artists and labels signed directly) or Payouts (partners).
- Choose Withdraw.
- Check the bank account shown. You can add a Note for HILLS Music.
- Choose Request withdrawal.
The withdrawal is your whole available balance, sent in USD by SWIFT to your approved bank account.
What each status means
| Status | What’s happening |
|---|---|
| Requested | Waiting for our team to approve it. You can still Cancel it. |
| Approved | Approved by HILLS Music and about to be sent. |
| Being sent | On its way to your bank. |
| Paid | Sent. It usually arrives in 2 to 5 business days after approval. |
| Failed | Not sent. The reason is shown and the amount is back in your balance. |
| Cancelled | Cancelled before approval. The amount is back in your balance. |
You get a notification when a withdrawal is paid, or if it fails or is cancelled. Every withdrawal stays in your history: partners see them under Withdrawals, direct artists and labels as Payout lines in Transactions.
If a withdrawal fails
A withdrawal can fail when the bank details don’t match the bank’s records, such as the account holder name. Check them under Settings → Payouts; changing them sends them for review again. Then choose Try again on the failed withdrawal. If no reason is shown, ask us from Live support.
Paying your own artists
Withdrawing pays you. If you’re a partner or a label, your artists and labels are paid from your own Airwallex or PayPal account, not from your HILLS balance. See Pay your artists and labels.
Common questions
- Can I withdraw only part of my balance?
- No. A withdrawal is always your whole available balance, once it reaches the minimum in your agreement.
- How long does a withdrawal take?
- Our team approves it first. After approval it usually arrives in 2 to 5 business days, by SWIFT transfer in USD.
- Can I cancel a withdrawal?
- Yes, while it's still Requested. Once HILLS Music approves it, it can't be cancelled.
- What happens if a withdrawal fails?
- The amount goes back to your available balance and the reason is shown next to it. Fix the cause, then choose Try again.
