Join the HILLS YouTube channel network

Link your label and artist YouTube channels to the HILLS channel network: how to ask, how we check a channel is yours, and where its revenue appears.

Updated

The HILLS YouTube channel network brings label and artist channels into HILLS’s YouTube network (a multi-channel network, or MCN). We look after monetization, Content ID claims and policy warnings with YouTube, and the channel revenue arrives in your statements with the rest of your catalog.

Joining is handled by our team, not in the workspace.

Which channels can join

Label, artist and topic channels in good standing with YouTube’s policies. We review each channel, for policies and rights, before it’s linked.

How to join

  1. Ask us. Write to us from Live support, or ask your partner manager, with the link to each channel you’d like to add.
  2. Agree the terms. Channel revenue is shared under the agreement we sign together. Terms are set per partner.
  3. Show the channel is yours. We’ll ask you to confirm you own it, for example by signing in with the Google account that owns the channel. Nothing is posted and we keep no access.
  4. We link it. Our team links the channel to the network in YouTube’s Content Manager and tells you once it’s done.

Once you’re in

  • Claims. Content ID claims on your network channels’ videos are watched by our team, and disputes and conflicts are handled with YouTube. See Claims, disputes and conflicts.
  • Your own uploads. Tell us your channels from Live support so Content ID never claims your own videos, while other people’s uploads of your recordings are still claimed for you.
  • Channel health. Monetization, copyright claims and policy warnings are watched, and handled with YouTube for you.

Revenue

YouTube pays the network monthly. Once a month of YouTube revenue is closed, your channels’ earnings appear in your royalties as YouTube network, next to your store revenue. See Reading your statement.

If you’re an artist or label under a partner, your partner shares the channel revenue with you by its own splits.

Leaving the network

Ask us from Live support. Our team unlinks the channel in YouTube’s Content Manager, as the agreement sets out.

Official Artist Channels

The channel network and an Official Artist Channel are separate. To merge an artist’s channel with its Topic channel, see Official Artist Channels.

Common questions

Do I keep ownership of my channel?
Yes. Your channel stays yours. Linking adds it to the HILLS network in YouTube for monetization, rights and support, under the agreement we sign together.
How is channel revenue shared?
Commercial terms are agreed per partner and set in your agreement. Ask your partner manager.
Is the channel network the same as an Official Artist Channel?
No. An Official Artist Channel brings an artist's channels together under one verified home. The channel network is about managing and monetizing the channels. You can have both.
