TikTok, Reels and Shorts
How your releases reach TikTok, CapCut, Instagram and Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts and Snapchat, how it's switched on, and how to pick the clip.
Updated
Short-video apps are where many songs are found first. HILLS Music delivers your releases to their sound libraries, so creators can use your tracks in their videos and you’re paid for each use.
Where your music goes
| Platform | How it gets your music |
|---|---|
| TikTok and CapCut | The TikTok store. CapCut uses TikTok’s music library. |
| Instagram and Facebook Reels, Stories and videos | Meta’s audio library, with Meta’s rights matching. |
| YouTube Shorts | Shorts creators pick from the music on YouTube Music. With Content ID, Shorts that use your recordings are claimed for you. |
| Snapchat | Supplied through 7Digital, one of the stores in your list. |
In the release editor, TikTok and the Meta stores are in the Social & video group of the stores list.
Switching it on
TikTok and both Meta stores work like Content ID: they match your recordings in other people’s videos, so our team switches them on per account, together with YouTube Content ID.
- For a partner, it covers the partner and every artist and label under it.
- For an artist or label signed directly by HILLS, it covers that account.
Until it’s on, these stores show as locked in the stores list, with the hint Contact support to enable Content ID. Ask from Live support.
Because they match recordings, they need what Content ID needs: exclusive rights to the recording. Tracks built on non-exclusive beats or samples, most covers, and sound effects or white noise aren’t eligible.
Choose the stores for a release
- Open the release’s Review tab and find Stores.
- Choose Choose stores.
- Untick the platforms this release shouldn’t go to, or tick them back.
- Choose Save stores, then submit.
To take a release off one platform once it’s there, ask us from Live support. To remove countries or tracks everywhere, use Request a change on the release’s page. See Takedowns and redeliveries.
Pick the clip
Each track has a Short-video clip field on the Tracks tab, next to Preview start. Enter where the clip should start, in minutes and seconds (for example 1:02). That’s the moment creators hear first when they pick your sound on TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
Choose the hook or the line people will want to use, and start on the beat.
Get paid
Each platform reports how your recordings were used, and the revenue lands in your monthly statements under the platform, such as TikTok or Meta (Facebook/Instagram). See Reading your statement and When stores pay.
Common questions
- Why can't I tick TikTok or Facebook on my release?
- TikTok and Meta's libraries are switched on together with Content ID, per account. Until our team switches it on, the stores list shows them locked with 'Contact support to enable Content ID'. Ask us from Live support.
- Which part of my track do creators hear first?
- The moment you set as the Short-video clip on each track, in minutes and seconds, on the release's Tracks tab.
- Do I earn when someone uses my track in a video?
- Yes. The platforms report the use of your recordings, and the revenue appears in your statements under the platform, such as TikTok or Meta (Facebook/Instagram).
- Can I keep a release off TikTok?
- Yes. Untick TikTok in the release's stores before you submit it. To take a release off TikTok once it's there, ask us from Live support.
